Welcome to the first Happy Migrant Blog.

I am currently living on The Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia which on most days lives up to its name with beautiful sun filled days, however today it is raining, really raining, with thundering skies……so the perfect day for a first blog.

I have finally got The Happy Migrant up and running, it has been a year in the making starting in March 2008 when I first arrived in Australia. So I thought I would begin with why I have started The Happy Migrant……

I have lived in several countries other than my own since 1981, 28+ years. During the early years I struggled with moving around and leaving friends but as time went on I found ways to adapt and enjoy the changing environments. As an adult I began to adapt very quickly, yet I noticed many people around me were struggling for a long time and were finding it very difficult to relax and enjoy their new home. I wanted to find ways to help people adapt , relax and settle while avoiding too much emotional stress so I began to research the stresses of moving and to look at  my own background. During this time I also completed my studies and throughout this past year I have found a way to combine the two and follow my passion.

I want people to be able to enjoy their move and embrace their new environment………it’s an adventure…….

This combination has resulted in e-mail courses (available from May), workshops, and individual coaching, focussed on helping you maintain a happy state of mind while moving to a new country or state.  The courses, workshops and coaching are all focussed on the various stages of moving and are designed to bring awareness to the things we often forget about in the excitement or stress of a move, the things that can later result in feeling unsettled.

It’s time to enjoy life……

Finally for those of you moving to Australia…..Personally I am loving this place, so much to discover, tropical fruits, tropical weather, friendly people and sunshine…..on that note I will leave you with my favourite quote…
